Getting a Tree Out Without Hitting Anything
Tree removal on a Tyler lot almost never means one cut at the base. A 70-foot loblolly pine beside a brick ranch house, or a water oak spreading over a fence and the neighbor's carport, has to come down in pieces: a climber or a lift takes the limbs first, then the trunk from the top in sections, with heavy pieces lowered on ropes. On open acreage outside town, a tree can sometimes be felled whole in a planned direction. The height of the tree matters, but what is underneath it, how a crew reaches it and whether the wood is sound decide most of the time and cost.
Trees that should come out
Some are clear: a pine with red needles, an oak with large patches of bark gone and black or gray fungus showing (a sign of hypoxylon canker in East Texas), a split trunk, a new lean with cracked or heaving soil on the far side, or a hollow at the base. Others are a judgment call: a healthy sweetgum lifting the driveway, a pecan dropping heavy limbs over the patio, or a tree crowding the house. We tell you plainly when pruning would fix the problem instead.
Why timing matters with dead trees
Texas A&M Forest Service notes that dead pines typically start to decay within six to ten months and recommends removing those that could fall on structures, roads, lines or fences sooner rather than later. Oaks killed by canker lose strength the same way as white rot spreads through the sapwood. A dead tree that a climber can still work safely this spring may need a lift or extra rigging next year, which costs more.
Lines, houses and the street
We do not cut near energized lines; Oncor handles the pole-to-pole lines in Tyler, and we work on the rest of the tree once that part is clear. If the tree's limbs surround the service wire to your house, Oncor can disconnect it temporarily, with a charge, so the tree can be removed safely. Over roofs, limbs are rigged so they swing away from the house instead of dropping. Trees standing in the public right-of-way may not be yours to remove, and we check before quoting.
The wood and the stump
Logs can stay as rounds for firewood, be cut to length, or go off site. Brush gets chipped, and chips can stay for mulch. Tyler's curbside service only takes limbs cut to 4 feet and bundled under 50 pounds, so a full removal's worth of wood is handled as part of the job. The stump is its own line on the quote; it can be ground the same day or left.
What Removal Includes
Each removal quote lists the method, the cleanup and the stump separately.
Sectional takedown
Limbs and trunk sections cut from the top down and lowered on ropes where there is no room to drop them.
Directional felling
On open ground, the tree is notched and dropped whole into a cleared lane, which is faster and costs less.
Hazard and dead tree removal
Canker-weakened oaks, beetle-killed pines and split trees taken out before they become brittle.
Chipping and log handling
Brush chipped on site; logs left as rounds, cut for firewood or hauled away.
Stump grinding add-on
The stump ground below grade the same day, priced on its own line.

How a Removal Goes
1. Site walk
We check the tree's condition, what it could hit, overhead lines and how equipment reaches it.
2. Written quote
The method, cleanup, stump and price for each tree, in writing.
3. Line and access prep
Oncor called if needed, vehicles moved, and the drop zone or lowering path cleared.
4. Takedown
Limbs off first, then the trunk in sections or felled whole where there is space.
5. Site cleanup
Brush chipped, logs handled as agreed, and the yard raked out.

Why Choose Us for Tree Removal
We say when pruning will do
If a tree can be kept with a reduction cut or deadwood removal, the quote shows that option too.
Rigging over roofs
Limbs over houses and fences are roped and lowered rather than dropped.
No surprise piles
Logs, brush and chips are covered in the quote, not left for the curb.
Tree Removal Questions
How long does a tree removal take?
A small or medium tree with open access is often done in a few hours. A large pine or oak over a house, with every piece lowered on ropes, can take most of a day or longer. We give you an expected timeline with the quote.
Will removing a tree damage my lawn?
Some marks are normal where equipment and logs move. We plan routes, use plywood or mats where needed and avoid driving on soft ground after heavy rain when we can. In wet weeks, red clay soils around Tyler rut easily, so we may suggest waiting a few days.
Can a tree be removed if it is half on my neighbor's side?
Usually yes, but a tree on the property line belongs to both owners, so talk with your neighbor first. Branches over their yard may need to be lowered from their side, which means getting permission for access.
Do you remove trees growing into power lines?
Not the parts near energized lines. Oncor handles vegetation near its pole-to-pole lines and can be reached at 888-313-6862. Once the line area is clear, we can remove the rest of the tree.
Is a dead tree cheaper to remove?
Often the opposite. Dead wood breaks unpredictably, so climbing and rigging take longer and sometimes need a lift. HomeGuide notes dead trees often cost more than expected because of the added safety risk.
