Homes, Rentals and Empty Lots

Tree Service in Brownsboro serves a different mix of owners than most towns around Tyler. Brownsboro is a city of 1,212 people (2020 census) on the south side of the Kickapoo Creek valley in northeastern Henderson County, about 19 miles west of Tyler on Highway 31. At the 2020 census it had 509 housing units, 11 percent of them vacant, and about 40 percent of occupied homes were rented. So along with homeowners, we hear from landlords, heirs and out-of-town owners who need trees handled on a property they do not live in.

For landlords and absentee owners

A tree problem on a rental is a liability problem. Dead limbs over a tenant's car, a pine leaning toward the house next door, or a tree growing into the service drop all tend to get noticed only after something breaks. We can visit the property without you there, photograph each tree we would work on, and send a written estimate that lists the work tree by tree. If you manage several houses, we can look at all of them in one trip.

Vacant lots

Empty lots grow up fast in East Texas. Within a few years, sweetgum, cedar and pine seedlings fill in, and dead trees from the old home site start falling across fences. We clear brush and small trees, remove dead and hazardous ones, and grind stumps so the lot can be mowed. If you are getting a lot ready to sell or build on, tell us so we can leave the healthy trees worth keeping.

A valley town

Brownsboro's history is tied to Kickapoo Creek, a tributary of the Neches River. John "Red" Brown settled here in 1849 and ran a toll bridge across the creek; by 1860 Henry Cade had a sawmill and cotton gin going; and when the St. Louis Southwestern Railway arrived in 1880 the town moved to the tracks. Lower ground toward the creek holds water after rain, and trees on saturated soil are the first to tip in strong wind. Higher lots drain better but dry out hard in summer. We look at where a tree stands on that slope as part of judging its risk.

Common jobs here

  • Hazard tree removal on rentals and inherited homes
  • Clearing overgrown fence lines and vacant lots
  • Pruning limbs away from roofs and service lines
  • Stump grinding before a lot is sold, built on or mowed
  • Cleanup after spring storms

Brownsboro Questions

I own a rental in Brownsboro but live out of town. Can you handle the trees without me there?

Yes. We arrange a time with you or your tenant, photograph each tree, and email a written estimate listing the work. Once you approve it, we schedule the job and send photos when it is done.

Can you clear a vacant lot but keep the good trees?

Yes. Tell us which trees you want saved, or we can recommend the healthiest ones. We clear brush and seedlings, remove dead trees and grind stumps so the lot can be mowed.

Why do trees near the creek fall over more often?

Low ground near Kickapoo Creek stays wet after heavy rain, and saturated soil gives roots less grip. Add wind and a heavy crown, and those trees are the first to uproot.

Do you work outside Brownsboro city limits in Henderson County?

Yes. We cover rural properties and acreage around Brownsboro as well as homes in town.

A tenant says a limb is rubbing the power line to the house. Who handles that?

Have the tenant report it to the electric provider, since Texas law keeps people and tools at least six feet from high-voltage lines unless the operator makes them safe. The service drop from the pole to the house is often treated differently from the main line, so ask the provider which part they will clear. We can prune the rest of the tree once the line is safe.
